Families Fighting Careless Driving was founded in November 2008 in honour of Donald Michael Bowles who was tragically killed in a car accident in Hamilton, Ontario. Donald was doing a favour and had taken his son’s car out to fill up the gas tank and check the motor, something he did regularly just to help out. However, Donald never returned, he was killed only 3 minutes away from home by someone charged with careless driving.
Realizing, shortly afterwards we were not the only family dealing with this type of tragedy we decided to create an organization for all families that have lost someone due to careless or dangerous driving. Families from around Canada go through this terrible and devastating tragedy way too often. Many family tragedies are shown on the following pages. Since November 2008, the group has grown tremendously as it becomes more recognized throughout Ontario and various parts of Canada.
We are a united group of Families that have been through similar tragedies who want the laws changed to make our roads safer for all Canadians. We want bad drivers to be accountable for their actions, so we can save lives in the future. We are an advocate for change and a resource for others to come to.
