The time is now for greater respect and safety on the road for all.

On a daily basis, I witness instances of unsafe driving. One of the driving bugaboos that I see all too frequently is the making of a rolling right turn on a red signal, or at a stop sign. It just seems that so long as a vehicle is the first to arrive at an intersection, albeit requiring it to come to a complete stop and not proceeding before conditions allow, its driver will execute a right turn in the face of oncoming traffic, with apparent impunity.
As it happened, on Oct. 6, 2011, and as a bicycle rider, I was crossing a main intersection on a green signal, and was "launched" off my cycle by an automobile making a rolling right on a red. I shouted loudly at this vehicle as it approach the traffic stop line at an excessive (to me) velocity. I shouted a second time as I was just clearing the intersection, but this vehicle, in making a right turn, followed me and closed any separation that I otherwise would have gained.
I was thrown forward and to the left by the vehicle's impact with my cycle, and landed heavily on my left wrist and from the pain on impact, surmised that I had suffered a fracture. Although I landed outstretched on the roadway, I was quick to turn around to see if the impacting vehicle was still rolling and threatening to run over my torso. Fortunately, it had come to a stop.
I was less than 10 feet short of becoming a casualty statistic. However, not having lost my life on this occasion should not preclude me from speaking out against dangerous driv

Please drive safely, with care for pedestrians, cyclists, other drivers, emergency vehicles, and especially for those road workers working day and night, at high risk of being struck from carelessness. It's time for reforms to be made to the law.

This law needs to be changed now!

My mom was on her usual afternoon walk on the walkway on Regatta Crescent as she has been doing so for the last 14 years. It is only about 2 months now when an extremely reckless driver backed out of his driveway with speed without consideration as who was on the walkway and knocked her so hard she was flung in the air, suffered severe brain damage and died without regaining consciousness. The man is still driving and one can tell from his vehicle the amount of times he was in an accident. I am now pleading with the relevant authorities to change the laws as it is too soft for drivers who have taken a loved one from their families. We the children cannot get over our beloved mother's loss. Please I am pleading as the charges this driver got is like a slap in our face and he is still on the loose to take another beloved innocent life.

My Mom was going for her afternoon walk on Regatta Crescent on a Saturday afternoon on the walkway when a cold, heartless and reckless driver backed out of his driveway at a fast rate hitting her and I have to say killing her on the spot as she never regained consciousness. He is still driving to kill another innocent citizen. I am pleading with the Government, MPS, law makers to impose stiffer penalties and also change the laws of Canada for these reckless drivers as the laws are too soft with them. Please put yourself in the place of those who lost a loving mother or a loved one.

I have seen so many acts of carelessness - occasionally it is a short lapse, human error...but most often its caused by unnecessary texting, phoning, eating, or drinking while driving.

I was in an accident 3 years ago and I have not yet regained my courage to drive like I once did. The idiot, and I use that term lightly that caused the accident turned left when I had the right of way. And then tried to contest the charge twice in court. Reliving it even once was too much at the time. Good luck making more people aware of this website and hopefully things will change.

I would like to see stiffer laws with careless driving causing death. I have seen and still seeing one of my friends trying to deal with the loss of her daughter. I can only be there for her.
Does law protect the victims and families or the GUILTY ONES. Wake up law makers.

A co workers Grandaughter died as a result of a driver who apparently drifted into the center lane and almost hit another vehicle head on, then swerved to the right and hit the young lady riding a bicycle. This was a country road with a bike lane. This innocent life was taken by someone who was not paying attention while driving. Now we have lost a young, enthusiastic, productive and loving young lady from a caring family.
This inattentive driver should receive a severe punishment and I am told he will get a slap on the hand. Probably a short term license suspension. That is absolutly wrong. He took a life and should be severly punished. These wimpy punishments do not teach a lesson to anyone. We need to stiffen the laws and give them teeth. It seems we are always concerened about peoples rights - but what about the victoms rights?
